Ranish Devkota

PhD student

Ranish is a PhD Student at Mississippi State University. He earned his bachelor's degree in Electronics, Communication, and Information Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering, Eastern Region Campus (2018-2023). During his undergraduate studies, he worked on various robotic projects at the IOEPC robotics club, where he gained hands-on experience in Embedded systems, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Programming, and Instrumentation. His research led to a publication in ICICT-2023 in IEEE. In another project, he worked on the Mapping and Localization of Mobile Robots with a Mono Camera using V-SLAM, which gave him a broader understanding of ROS, Machine Vision, SLAM, and Robot Perception. His first Industrial job was at Orion Space as R&D Engineer, as a Lead Embedded System Engineer, where he gained experience in building the Pico-satellite "SANOSAT-2". He designed and optimized the satellite system, PCBs, communication links, link budgets, antenna, power budget, and sensors. This allowed him to gain insights into designing a sun-sensor as an optoelectronic payload. The satellite is marked with the inclusion of 6 sun-sensors for attitude determination, a camera as optical payload, as well as other payloads like IMU, and is capable of acting as a digital repeater.
